Stormy Weather Arts Festival
November 6th - 8th 2020
Artists in attendance: David Crawford, Dan Chen, Sharon Amber and Carol Gold
Additional featured artists: Linda Wilder and Robert Rogers
The community of Cannon Beach has a long-standing tradition of celebrating the arts amidst late fall storms. It’s one of our favorite traditions around here – the energy is palpable. There’s nothing quite like the gallery filled with fresh work alongside artists and friends, old and new, all set on the backdrop of a churning ocean on the cusp of winter.
At this point we all know that 2020 has been a year like no other. So many regular traditions have been put on hold, and we’ve all involuntarily taken a course on adaptability. The Cannon Beach arts community has agreed that there are some traditions too precious to miss, and finding a new way seems to be the only option this year….so for the 33rd year in a row, we are looking forward to the annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival.
We are committed to doing this safely, and obviously that means making some changes to our usual methods of celebration. To provide ample space between us all in the gallery, we’ve put together a schedule for the weekend which offers several opportunities for viewing new work and meeting with artists in a way that is comfortable. The gallery will be fully open as usual at times, though we’ll need to monitor occupancy. We’ve set aside some time for the artists who will be in attendance, for more intimate discussions of new work. We’ll also have some time for private appointments, for those who prefer a bit more solitude. We ask that, if you would like to join us for one of the limited attendance events, that you RSVP so we can plan accordingly. Private appointments can be scheduled by email or phone. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions – we know this is all new. Here’s the plan:
Friday November 6th
10:00am – 4:00pm : Open
4:00pm – 7:00pm: By appointment only (please call or email to schedule)
Saturday November 7th
10am-11am : Open
1pm – 2pm : Open
4pm – 5pm : Open
5pm – 7pm : By appointment only (please call or email to schedule)
Sunday November 8th
Noon – 5pm : Open
Some of the artists who regularly travel from outside the Pacific Northwest to join us won’t be able to make the trip, but are still sending all the new work they’ve created. We’ll be featuring new work by Linda Wilder, Carol Gold and Robert Rogers, and the gallery will be filled with new work by just about every artist we represent. We hope you can join us, and celebrate all that art brings to our lives.
